I think this is great but a short tail was intentional. We could consider this as an alternate but this is maybe not “enough” for an alternate right?

Yes it was intentional (and not enough different to consider a alternate).
But since it's OpenSource you may create a fork, change other shapes and
propose a Frank-tasted version ;-)
Could be interesting if you have time.

I am sure you have Frank :)
Seriously it could be really interesting as this font is a proof of concept of collaborative design. This is THE font to fork.
